Garmin nuvi 1390 Great

Used the Nuvi in England for 2 1/2 weeks and it worked great. The nice feature was that it could fit in my pocket for walking around (it has an automobile and a pedestrian feature) which was very nice. The maps worked great for us as we travelled from London to Bath to Scotland and all abouts. The suction cup works great and very easy to take your Nuvi in and out of the car. I like the feature where it shows your speed & indicates when you are exceeding the speed as well. Definitely well worth the money.

Garmin nuvi 1390 It’s Fast & Easy! No More Printing Out Google Maps!

I’m a fan of the Garmin brand of GPS. I’ve tested out Tom Tom & Magellan but neither had the visually appealing interface of the Garmin, nor were they as easy-to-use. Prior to the 1390T, I was using the 875T. Both models are basically the same except the 1390T has some updated graphics and is slimmer. A good change Garmin made was to allow the power cable to plug directly into the GPS unit itself, rather than through the suction cup mount. The most important improvement is that the 1390T is much faster; it’s faster at locating the satellite signal (which is HUGE–the 875T can be painfully slow and sometimes doesn’t get a signal until you’re halfway to your destination!) and it has a faster processor so touchscreen commands are much quicker.

I do wish that Garmin would make voice command a standard feature on all their GPS’. It would also be nice if a zipcode option was offered, for those times that you don’t know the exact name of the city.

One change that Garmin definitely needs to implement is alternate routes, as in, offering multiple ways of getting somewhere.

Overall though, it’s a great product for the price and has definitely improved my quality of driving life!

Customer Reviews

Great GPS! No complaints.5
Just bought this GPS from Amazon and I’m having no problems with it at all. No sure why others have a problem with the speaker but it sounds fine to me. I bought this to replace my Nuvi 350 and it’s a major upgrade. The menus are much nicer and I like the Speed Limit display. I did have a little trouble with the bluetooth. After pairing my iPhone the “Phone” icon disappeared from my GPS. It didn’t seem to recognize my iPhone anymore. I went to the Garmin website, downloaded the 2.70 upgraded software for this unit (which has fixes for the speaker and bluetooth), did the pairing again, and now it works fine. I would definitely recommend this unit. Anyone who’s having problems should download the latest software for this GPS from the Garmin website.
